The Wee Care Best Team

We have brought together an amazing team that is called to love and work with children. Our educated teaching directors go above and beyond with the curriculums. Our teaching staff hold degrees: a CDA – Child Development Associate degree or a BA in early childhood.

Our goal is to allow you to go back to work, confident in the knowledge that your children are being cared for in a loving and supportive environment. Our staff is highly experienced and professional completely dedicated to the care, education, & nurturing of children.

The Owner of Wee Care Best

Cherie M. Coleman, President

Cherie Coleman is the proud owner of 5 Wee Care Best Child Care centers. She was born and raised in Carroll County, MD. Cherie holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology from Towson University. In 1987 she started in child care as a preschool teacher. She took advantage of an opportunity to improve on local childcare opening Wee Care Best, Hampstead, in May 1989. Cherie opened her second center in Hanover, Pa. in 1991. In 1995, she opened her largest site in Finksburg, Md that is licensed for 120 children. In August of 2019 she expanded in Hanover with 2 additional locations in south and north Hanover, Pa. She was the Treasurer of the Early Childhood Educator’s of Carroll County.

Pennsylvania Team

Nicole Cook, Director - North Hanover, Pa site (Eichelberger Street)

Nikki has worked in childcare since 1991 starting at the Hanover, PA location as a PreK teacher. She moved away in 1997 to Texas, with her husband, where she opened her own successful childcare center and operated it for 10 years. She returned to PA and Wee Care Best in 2009 working at the Finksburg, Md center as the PreK teacher. In 2013 she transferred to the Hanover location to again spearhead the PreK program and act as the assistant director. Nikki graduated in December 2018 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She ascended to Director of the Hampstead location in 2018, and moved in 2022 to North Hanover, Pa to apply her 30 years experience in child care.

Cara Kishbaugh, Director - Hanover, Pa site (High St.)

Cara has worked in childcare since 2010 starting as an Aide at a Maryland childcare center. She taught preschool and was a director for 6 years in Maryland. Cara Graduated in 2017 with her degree from Carroll Community College in Early Childhood Education. Cara is married and has a daughter. She is eager to start this new adventure with us at High St.

Maria Lonigro, Director - South Hanover, Pa site (Fairview Dr)

Maria has worked at Wee Care Best for 3 years. She was previously at our Finksburg, MD and Hanover, Pa locations. She received her Associates degree in Early Childhood Education from Carroll Community College. Maria is married with 2 children. She is excited to start this new adventure in South Hanover.

Maryland Team

Jodi McKennie, Executive Director and Director - Finksburg Md site

Jodi has a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Penn State University in Communication Disorders. She has been in child care since August, 1991. She started with Wee Care Best, Hanover, Pa. site as a preschool teacher in April 1992 and in 1993 advanced to Director at the Hanover, Pa site. She has overseen both our Finksburg and Hanover locations and as of 2022 is back with the team in Finskburg and Hampstead. She is currently the Executive Director for Wee Care Best and a former president of the Early Childhood Educators of Carroll County.
